Strategic Communications Advisor

ExperiEnce

For the past two decades, I've worked with global corporations, non-profits, and government entities to craft clear, effective messaging that drives action, loyalty, and engagement.

My career began in the advertising industry in New York City, where I served as a brand strategist for clients including Hasbro Toys, Playtex, and Sharp Electronics. From there, I transitioned to corporate communications and managed internal communications for the North American region of Maersk, the world's largest container shipping company. In 2009, my career took a dramatic turn, when one of Maersk's ships was hijacked by pirates. I was dispatched to Vermont to manage media relations surrounding the kidnapping of Captain Richard Phillips. Following Captain Phillip's rescue, I served as the hero captain's business and media manager, helping to establish book, movie, speaking, and media opportunities for Phillips. During that time, I decided to relocate to Vermont permanently. From 2011-2017, I served as the Director of Communications and Policy for the Vermont Agency of Agriculture, Food, and Markets, where I led the team promoting Vermont's farm and food sector, and shaped public policy governing farming in our state.

I live in Richmond, VT on my family's dairy and produce farm with my husband, Ransom, and our children.  I graduated from Bryn Mawr College in 2001, where I majored in English. In addition to my communications work, I am a farmer, creative writer, and master gardener.
